Way too long of lines to get in for sub-par food and beer. Lousy customer service. The pizza joint across the parking lot has MUCH better food and better beer selection.

No character. That applies to the place, the beer, the food, the staff. The restaurant is situated at the entrance to one of those pseudo-main-street super shopping centers. The patio – where we sat because no tables were available inside - overlooks the entrance ramp to Interstate 94. The beer is served ice cold. They had their four regular beers on tap (this is a chain that apparently doesn’t allow for any creativity at any of the franchises) and no seasonals or specialties. The maibock was decent, a little malty once it warmed a bit, and at least clean. The “cask-conditioned” Duke of Wellington IPA was ice cold and served with no head. I guess Granite City and I have a different understanding of what cask-conditioned ale is. It had a funky taste, was slightly hoppy and amber-colored. The tuna fillet I ordered medium rare was a small piece of overcooked tuna served on some brown and wild rice (the menu said rice pilaf). Our waitress blew right by me at one point when I had an empty beer glass on the table. Skip this place and go visit Barley John’s or Great Waters or Town Hall. This place was depressing.

Wait was long (+45 mins) but I understand that because of the area it's in. They had 4 choices for beer (5 and the menu but 1 was just a black & tan they called by some other name and tried to pass it off like it was another beer selection). I tried all 4 and none of them were very good. The Duke of Wellington tasted just like a Miller Light. Gross at best. Brother Benedict's Mai Back had an ok flavor to it but nothing special. Broadaxe Stout lacked flavor for a dark stout. Northern Light Lager was lacked the smoothness they claimed. It was similar to a Summit Extra Pale. None of the beers were what you'd expect from a place that brews their own. The food was horrible. The waitress went on and on about how they are know for their amazing cuts of beer so we ordered steaks. I got a Honey Rosemary Filet Mignon and my friend got the Grilled Garlic Butter Sirloin. Now you might think that the filet mignon would be the better cut of beef (and should be with the higher price tag and choice cut) but the sirloin beat it by a long shot. My filet looked like a pork chop instead of your standard filet (the cut came from the rear most part of the section of the cow. Most restaurants will not even serve this part as a filet mignon.) It had no flavor (I asked for medium rare but the center contained no pink at all) and was fairly hard to cut with the steak knife. My friend's sirloin was better then my filet but not by much. He asked for rare and received it with a little bit of pink in the middle. It was a good sized piece of meat but still lacked flavor. With the experience we had with the food and the sub par beer, we won't be returning.

The place has stabilized. Our food was great. Our group had everything from sandwiches to steaks with a little pasta thrown in. Everyone was happy with their selections. On tap was their lighter selection, the bock, the pale ale and a stout. They also offer their "two pull" which is a combination of the lighter and the bock which was actually very good. The hop flavor was definitely more evidence in the Pale Ale.

This one just started up so they are still working out some kinks. They actually seemed a bit understaffed. They had their four standards house beers and no seasonal yet. The flavors were not fully refined yet but this is a new operation. Everyone enjoyed their food from steaks to burgers to pasta so we will return.
